Newcastle International Airport secures over 6,000 seats for fans traveling to Champions League fixtures

Newcastle International Airport has confirmed that an additional 17 dedicated direct flights, providing over 6,000 seats, will operate during November to fly Newcastle United fans to the club’s upcoming Champions League fixtures.

Newcastle United will play the remaining away fixtures of the group stage in Dortmund, Germany, on 7th November and Paris, France, on 28th November. In addition to fans using these extra dedicated flights, the Airport is also expecting hundreds to use existing daily scheduled services to reach the European games, including connecting via London Heathrow, Amsterdam and Frankfurt or flying directly to Paris and Dusseldorf.

Chris Ion, Aviation Development Manager said: “We’re delighted to have secured all the additional flights to provide even more choice to Newcastle United fans travelling to the European fixtures.

“We have worked closely with our airline partners, the Newcastle United Supporters Group and dedicated ATOL protected sports tour operators to ensure that we can offer the fans the best possible options when supporting their team abroad. Ensuring that we can accommodate the additional capacity has been a real team effort and we look forward to welcoming fans to the Airport in the near future.”

Although dedicated charter flights to Dortmund have sold out, seats are still available on two additional scheduled flights from Newcastle Airport to Dusseldorf - a 50 minute train ride from Dortmund - which have been added by Eurowings.

Dedicated charter flights to Paris are still available to book via the Newcastle United Supporters Group and Worldchoice Sports. Daily scheduled flights to Paris are also available to book via Air France.

Last week the Airport also hosted three charter flights and thousands of fans arriving into the region for Newcastle United’s home Champions League fixture against Paris Saint Germain, with even more fans expected to fly in ahead of the next home fixture against Dortmund at the end of October.
