This week’s round-up of North East appointments includes The Inn Collection Group, Burnetts Solicitors and Industrial and Marine Hydraulics. Read on to find out more…
Joe Bernhoeft - The Inn Collection Group
The Inn Collection Group are delighted to announce the appointment of Joe Bernhoeft as the group’s new Chief Financial Officer. A maths graduate from Edinburgh University, Joe is a hugely experienced finance professional and joins the Newcastle based ‘pub with rooms’ operator from the global fashion brand Barbour.
Joining as head of finance in 2018, his responsibilities grew to the directorship of the global operations, finance and IT functions. Joe joins The Inn Collection Group as it continues to welcome properties back to trading following multi-million-pound refurbishments and continues to expand across the north of England and Wales.
He brings to the role a wealth of experience gained through positions with Amazon, Proctor & Gamble and Smurfit Kappa and takes over the role from Paul Edwards, who, after heading up the group’s finance function during a period of unprecedented growth, is embarking on early retirement.
Sean Donkin, group CEO at The Inn Collection Group, commented: ‘We are very excited to welcome Joe as our new CFO in what is a very exciting time for the company. He is an incredibly experienced finance professional having worked for some significant blue-chip organisations, including one of the north east’s most recognisable, global brands.
“His skillset means he is well placed to head up our finance department as our estate continues to expand as properties return to trading after significant investment and refurbishments.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Joe a long and happy association with The Inn Collection Group and thank Paul for his work and commitment and wish him the very best for his retirement.”
Jonathan Yates - Burnetts Solicitors LLP
The latest addition to a fast-growing legal banking team may be new to the firm, but he is a familiar face to his colleagues. Jonathan Yates has just taken up the role as Legal Director within the Banking and Property team at Newcastle’s Burnetts Solicitors LLP, after years of working in other top law firms in the region.
And although this is a brand new position for Jonathan at the Dean Street based practice, he is feeling at home, having worked with many of the current team at previous firms.
Jonathan has more than 20 years of experience in the legal sector and has a broad range of commercial property experience, with a particular focus on acting for funders and borrowers on property transactions.
He will now play an integral role as part of the Burnetts Banking and Property Finance team, which supports both lenders and borrowers in everything from real estate investment to agricultural, healthcare and development finance transactions.
Jonathan commented: “I’m delighted to have joined the banking team at Burnetts. I have heard great things, from both colleagues and clients alike, about the culture of the firm and the quality of service and advice which the firm delivers to clients.
“There seems to be a great working environment, and this follows through to the service given to clients. Clients appear to really enjoy working with the firm. The fact that I have worked with many of the team previously is a bonus. It hasn’t really felt like starting a new role. There’s a lovely atmosphere.”
Nicola Nutley, Head of Banking and Property Finance, added: “Jonathan’s initial experience of the culture and atmosphere at Burnetts is something we all understand. It’s the reason so many of us are here. It’s a combination of people who are at the top of their game and love what they do and are doing it in a really positive atmosphere.”
