Dawson & Sanderson welcomes new apprentices
North East-based travel agent Dawson & Sanderson has recently welcomed eight new Travel Consultant apprentices as it looks to develop its future workforce.
Having committed to an apprenticeship scheme in 2011 and working in collaboration with training partner AS Training, Dawson & Sanderson is continuing to provide the ideal training solution for aspiring Travel Consultants looking to kickstart their career in the travel industry.
Supported by County Durham-based AS Training, Dawson & Sanderson work to provide apprentices undertaking the Travel Consultant L3 apprenticeship with the skills and industry knowledge needed to tackle the role with confidence. After completing the apprenticeship, every Travel Consultant apprentice will be offered a full-time position within the company and the opportunity to continue improving their travel knowledge and customer service skills.
General Manager of Training and Development Julie Cloe has managed the apprenticeship scheme since its inception. Julie said, “Our apprenticeship training scheme has always been highly successful, and we are delighted to welcome so many young people to the Dawson & Sanderson family. It’s testimony to our approach to training and culture that we still have several employees in our branches who started with us as apprentices”.
All apprentices work in designated branches in the extensive Dawson & Sanderson network alongside an allocated mentor, ensuring they receive high levels of industry training and are fully supported by branch colleagues, all of whom are involved in the in-house training process.
Julie continued, “Previous apprentices within the company often go on to become mentors, sharing the knowledge they have learnt throughout their journey and keeping all new team members up to date. Each apprentice who has continued their career with the company is seen as an ambassador for what new and aspiring Travel Consultants can become after completing this course”.
