Property, mining and energy firm expands in Yorkshire amid job creation plans
Property, mining and energy firm the Banks Group has moved into bigger Yorkshire premises as part of fulfilling its investment and job creation plans in the county.
Banks took on a new office at Harewood Yard, close to Harewood House, in 2020 as it looked to increase its project portfolio across the county, and has quickly increased its Yorkshire based team from two people to nine.
The family-owned firm has now taken on a 1,400 sq ft office in the same location, and is expecting to create a number of additional new jobs in the county over the next 12 months, with space available in the new office to accommodate future new recruits.
The office, which is located in a converted Grade II-listed building, is also used by staff from Banks’ County Durham headquarters who are working on local projects. The Banks Group has a long track record of successful Yorkshire developments across its property, renewable energy and mining businesses.
It has developed housing schemes in Sheffield, Harrogate and Leeds, and currently has 18 residential property schemes at different stages of development across the county, including projects in North Yorkshire and Wakefield that will see planning applications submitted to their respective local councils in the near future.
They include the first site in Yorkshire to be brought forward by new regional housebuilder Banks Homes, which was launched earlier this year by the Banks Group and which is now focusing on sites of all sizes across Yorkshire and North East England.
Banks Property also secured planning permission over the summer for a residential development of up to 390 new homes at Barton-upon-Humber.
Rob Ormrod, head of development - Yorkshire at Banks Property, commented: “We made increasing our presence and range of projects across Yorkshire a strategic priority for the business when we first moved to Harewood three years ago and we’ve made a great deal of progress since then.
“We’ve now got access to the extra workstations and meeting rooms that we’ll need as we continue to grow while retaining the excellent highway links and superb location that Harewood Yard has always offered.
“We have a range of different property projects in the pipeline right across Yorkshire and expect to be continuing to further expand our county-based team in the next year as we work towards bringing these plans to fruition.”
