Newcastle based affordable house builder announces new recruitment drive

A North East affordable house builder is ramping up recruitment plans as it invests in new talent to strengthen its team and support growth.

Newcastle based Adderstone Living, which designs and develops a range of affordable properties for social housing providers, is looking to create several new roles at its office at The Fleming in Jesmond over the rest of the year.

These include a director (new business), estimator manager, a planning manager, buyer, project managers, and a site manager, who will contribute significantly to the current 30-strong workforce as the company continues to invest in frontline operations and turnkey project services.

Demand for its products and expertise across its northern heartland has seen a raft of current projects secured by Adderstone Living in Yorkshire, County Durham, Wearside and Tyneside.

Among these are 70 new affordable homes in East Cowden, North Yorkshire, and 45 units in West Denton, Newcastle, for Karbon Homes. Sixty-nine properties in Shaftesbury Avenue in South Shields are also under development for Places for People with several other schemes expected to start onsite soon.

The news comes as Adderstone Living, which was established in 2019 and has since seen rapid year-on-year growth, is targeting sales revenues of £35m in the next 12 months as the affordable housing sector brings forward its plans to tackle the national housing shortage and provide quality, sustainable homes.

Working with local authorities and housing associations, Adderstone Living’s ‘land-led’ solutions involve the sourcing of suitable land, scheme design and securing of planning permissions before delivering quality homes.

Managing director Stephen McCoy commented: “We are busier than ever with millions of pounds worth of work already secured and developing quality homes in places where people want to live.

“We are investing to support growth and increase our footprint with additional resources and skills, which will allow us to continue to service new customers as well as long-standing ones.

“These are exciting times with the next chapter of the business unfolding, laying firm foundations for future success as we continue to go from strength-to-strength. Our recruitment push is a great chance for individuals to discover the rewarding career opportunities within our company and become part of a values-led, quality focused team.”
