‘Historic’ Chester-le-Street estate welcomes addition of over 100 modern new homes

The first homes have been released for sale at Bellway’s new Hedworths Green at Lambton Park development near Chester-le-Street.

Bellway’s Durham division is building 145 new homes on the historic country estate, which is the ancestral seat of the Earls of Durham. Potential buyers can now be among the first to secure a property at Hedworths Green, where an initial selection of three, four and five-bedroom houses are available to reserve.

This reflects the landscape led approach to the historic development of Lambton Park and remains a key design philosophy which integrates the new housing with the wider Estate.

The development just off the A183 Chester Road is on land that was once the site of the Lambton Lion Park, an attraction that had lions, hippos, giraffes, elephants, and zebra on show, and attracted many tourists in the 1970s.

The redevelopment project is leading to investment in the heritage assets of Lambton Park and the restoration of significant buildings such as the Lamb Bridge, the Castle and Stables.

There is a showhome available to view at Hedworths Green at Lambton Park, the five-bedroom Woodstone detached house, which has an open-plan kitchen/dining/family room, a study, a living room, a utility room and a cloakroom on the ground floor. It also has five double bedrooms, two of which have en suite shower rooms, and a family bathroom.
