Management provider supports Dogger Bank Wind project from the Port of Sunderland

ASCO, a leading global logistics and materials management provider, is collaborating with Port of Sunderland to deliver materials management, warehousing, and procurement services for the Dogger Bank windfarm project.

Under this partnership, ASCO is managing the storage facility at the entrance to the Port of Sunderland and is currently catering to the requirements of a leading shipping company.

This agreement sees ASCO supporting one initial vessel, with upcoming provisions for three additional vessels that will be deployed to the Dogger Bank project over the next six months. Leveraging the port’s storage facilities, ASCO provides seamless materials coordination and delivery of vital supplies to this tier 1 contractor working on the project.

In early 2023, ASCO committed to growing its operations in the North East of England, appointing Ryan McMahon to lead business development for ASCO’s full range of services, while overseeing regional operations for its Ship Agency business, Seletar.

Ryan McMahon, Business Development & Operations Manager at ASCO, said: “Since I joined ASCO earlier this year, we have hit the ground running to strengthen our relationships and build partnerships with key industry players.

“Our agreement with Port of Sunderland outlines our commitment to developing our services in the North East of England, providing our extensive industry expertise and full range of services to support essential energy developments.”

Initially only supporting warehousing and materials management, ASCO has since been requested by the contractor to extend its support beyond this. The scope now encompasses the supply of essential goods such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), tools, and consumables.

ASCO’s ability to deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions makes it the ideal partner for clients navigating the complexities of large-scale projects, including offshore wind farms. Through its expert logistics capabilities, ASCO ensures smooth operations and on-time deliveries, enabling clients to focus on their core tasks and objectives.

Matthew Hunt, Port Director at Port of Sunderland, said: “We are thrilled that ASCO has chosen to locate its Dogger Bank logistics and storage base at the port.

“Our strategic position – which puts us at the heart of the North Sea and provides our customers with easy access to rail and road - has seen numerous companies operating in the offshore and renewables sectors establish themselves here over recent years and ASCO is the latest to realise the significant potential of doing business here.

“It is a fantastic company which is playing a key role in helping the UK achieve its ambitious Net Zero targets and we are absolutely delighted that we will now be contributing to its efforts.”
