Early-stage venture platform ‘doubles down’ on model with CMO appointment

Plural, the early-stage platform set up by founders and operators to back companies on a mission to change the world through technology, is announcing today the appointment of Eliza Dabney as Chief Marketing Officer.

In her new role, Eliza will lead all of Plural’s marketing and communications efforts, including supporting and advising its growing portfolio of founders.

Eliza has two decades of experience advising and building global profiles for high-growth startups and leading venture capital firms on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2012, she co-founded Sepia Communications with Josephine Salm to provide high-impact, strategic communications for companies radically transforming their industries on a global scale.

After seven years of successive growth and building global leadership profiles for some of the most celebrated companies, such as BlaBlaCar, Deliveroo and Roblox, Sepia was acquired by US based firm Outcast (owned by Next15 Group PLC) in 2019 to expand Outcast’s footprint into a new market.

Sepia rebranded to Outcast in 2020, where Eliza continued to co-lead the London business as Managing Director. Eliza’s entrepreneurial journey and track record give her empathy and relevant experience to provide “meaningful support and advice” to Plural’s founders.

Plural is a new early-stage investment platform created to leverage the operator and founder experience emerging from successful companies in the European tech sector.

Since launching in 2022, Plural’s partners, Carina Namih, Ian Hogarth, Khaled Helioui, Sten Tamkivi and Taavet Hinrikus, have backed companies tackling global challenges from healthcare (Certific, Teton), the climate crisis (Arbonics, Isometric), clean energy generation (Proxima Fusion), and accessible finance (Mos, Pesto).

Eliza Dabney, CMO at Plural, commented: “I couldn’t resist the opportunity to work with such an exceptional team of like-minded founders, who care deeply about the missions, values and teams they back and are totally motivated by impact.

“I’m thrilled to put my energy, enthusiasm and experience into supporting Plural’s portfolio of founders early on in their journeys as they build globally significant companies from Europe tackling some of the gnarliest and most important challenges of our time.”

Taavet Hinrikus, partner at Plural, added: “When we started hunting for a CMO, we really hoped that we’d find someone who shared our DNA as company builders and Eliza fits that ambition, in addition to having a strong track record of raising global profiles for companies from the earliest stages.”
