West Midlands country hotel triples guest capacity via six-figure Lloyds investment
A West Midlands country hotel is tripling guest capacity and growing profits by 15 per cent thanks to £700k of support from Lloyds Bank.
Nuthurst Grange Country House Hotel, located in Solihull, is a 22-room hotel, restaurant and leisure venue. Set across seven acres of private woodland, the business caters to weddings, conferences and functions. In response to changing consumer demands, and to capitalise on new growth opportunities, the business decided to expand its accommodation offering.
Nuthurst Grange Hotel approached Lloyds Bank, securing the £700k of funding to build 46 guest rooms, a room for bridal parties to use ahead of nuptials, and eight log cabins with private hot tubs. Two of the new rooms and the bridal preparation space have already completed, while work underway on the others is due to complete by early 2024.
The £3m turnover business forecasts that the additional capacity will enable it to grow profits by £500k next year. The business currently employs 30 staff but plans to hire another ten over the next year to cater for the increasing numbers of guests.
Looking ahead, planning permission for a further eight bedrooms and an extension to the hotel’s existing facilities is also now under consideration. Lloyds Bank has also supported Nuthurst Grange Hotel to implement its Cardnet payment solution, to streamline the processing of customer payments and provide greater oversight of its finances.

“By constantly reinventing and reinvesting, we have been able to provide customers with an excellent experience and maintain loyalty, helping us overcome some of the wider challenges currently facing the hospitality sector.
“Sustainability is also key to Nuthurst Grange Hotel’s wider growth strategy. We’ve installed three energy efficient boilers, which will ensure we can heat the new rooms and facilities in a more sustainable way, while our new log cabins are designed to blend in with the forest and allow guests to spend time in nature.”
Paul Warrington, relationship director at Lloyds Bank, added: “Nuthurst Grange Hotel is seeing high levels of demand from guests. It has a busy festive period ahead and is already fully booked for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
“The funding will enable the business to expand its capacity, to make the most of the popularity it’s experiencing and maximise all opportunities to grow.”
