Hoar Cross Nursing Home Raises Funds for Pets as Therapy, Championing the Healing Power of Furry Friends
Maggie, a therapy dog, and her devoted human, Becky, were a ray of sunshine at Hoar Cross Nursing Home's fundraising event for the charity, Pets as Therapy (PAT).
For 40 years, Pets as Therapy has been pioneering the idea that pets, particularly dogs, can have a profound impact on human well-being. From alleviating loneliness to providing moments of joy, PAT dogs and their handlers volunteer their time to make a tangible difference. Maggie and Becky’s regular visits to the nursing home serve as a testament to the powerful bond between humans and animals.
Anna Whitehouse, Manager at Hoar Cross Nursing Home says: “When Maggie walks in, the entire atmosphere changes. The smiles, the laughter, and the sheer joy she brings is priceless,”
Recognising the tremendous work of the charity and wanting to give back, the nursing home organised a PATnic fundraiser. The event raised an impressive £102. Alongside Maggie and Becky, a delightful poodle named Bertie and his human also graced the occasion, adding to the day’s charm.
The nursing home extended their gratitude to all who attended, and while the dog-themed cupcakes have all been savoured, other fundraising treats such as lucky dips, dog treat bags, and toys were up for grabs.
Pets, especially therapy dogs, have a unique way of touching lives. Through their gentle demeanour and unconditional love, they can turn a regular day into something extraordinary. The fundraiser by Hoar Cross Nursing Home not only pays tribute to these furry heroes and their handlers but also underlines the significance of their mission in enhancing human lives.
