Leading property consultancy looking to grow Midlands agency team after strong residential sales

A leading property consultancy is aiming to grow its Midlands agency team following continued success in residential sales during the year.

Fisher German, headquartered in Ashby de la Zouch, has seen a surge in completed sales across its portfolio in the region, despite a seemingly sluggish market.

The team oversaw the completion of 28 country, land and prime sales through September, October, and November, with a total value of £22 million, while also winning a number of new instructions.

They are now looking to build on this success by growing the residential agency team in the early part of 2024.

Thomas Blake, Associate Partner at Fisher German, said: “Despite the residential market still feeling the effects of last year’s mini-budget, the right properties marketed well and competitively are receiving a strong response.

“A recent example was a former farmhouse in Derbyshire with circa 35 acres of land. It received so many enquiries that we had to restrict viewings to proceedable parties only. This still resulted in around 30 viewings, and we moved to the best and final offers swiftly.

“We are experiencing similar situations across many of our properties, due to increased opportunities and investment within the Midlands region.

“The region has proven to be resilient despite broader economic challenges, and a fresh and successful demographic, along with established markets, are seeking a balance of a country lifestyle whilst still having access to the region’s excellent transport links and urban areas.

“Our long-built reputation in this area has helped us in this regard and is seeing us win new and repeat business, ready for 2024.

“We have also experienced growth in our New Homes and Auction departments, a testament to our continued investment in our service offering to clients.

“Completing property sales in this climate is challenging and our experienced team has done an excellent job of keeping transactions on track.”

Fisher German, which recently opened a new office in the centre of Birmingham, is aiming to add new experienced agents to the team to build on the success of 2023, with economic conditions forecasted to improve into the New Year.

Thomas added: “We suspect the forecasts for early 2024 are accurate and that inflation will steadily reduce further, which will hopefully improve confidence and stabilise interest rates. However, it is anticipated that property values will fall further in the New Year, so a realistic approach to strategy will continue to be important.

“It will also be an election year, potentially later than usual, with the Government under pressure to deliver a generous spring budget, as the Conservatives attempt to win late favour and limit damage.

“If demand increases as predicted, it will be important for Fisher German to be well placed to offer consistent service levels into 2024.”
