Central London based property developer launches pop-up series for indie brands

Charlotte Street’s Merchant House is opening its doors to four young independent brands in an initiative by London developer Merchant Land.

Fashion brand Araia Paradis was the first to showcase its collection, followed by The Jewellery Pop-Up and jeweller, Emma Walton. Finally, Sum London, whose striking pieces are created by London-Born Malaysian-Chinese designer Margaret Sam, will launch the final pop-up in January.

Katherine McCullough, Managing Director of Merchant Land, commented: “Merchant House is the ideal spot for these exciting independent brands to showcase their collections. It’s one of Fitzrovia’s liveliest streets and the building offers a beautiful backdrop to get creative and make the space their own.

“The creative community is an important part of the area’s history and heritage so it’s great to be able to offer emerging designers this prime London retail space, even for a limited time. We look forward to working with each of them and seeing the space really come to life.”

Merchant House was redeveloped by Merchant Land following its acquisition of three adjacent buildings. After securing planning permission, preserving its original Victorian façade, it created eight new apartments alongside ground floor commercial space for independent retailers.

Casual Fitters recently moved into one of two commercial units, with the other providing up-and-coming brands the chance to showcase their products in ‘one of London’s most vibrant locations’.

Merchant Land is an established property development and investment company based in Central London. It specialises in small and medium sized projects in central and fringe central locations. It has a number of exciting projects in the pipeline, including residential, mixed-use and office schemes.
