The Top 10 most outrageous workplace confessions

Everyone hears of urban myths about shocking events that take place in the workplace. From sordid affairs, expense fraud to photocopying private parts, work can be wild…

However for the sake of their own job security, it’s rare people proudly put their name to these things or even acknowledge that they even took place. HR departments quiver at the thought of the companies dirty laundry being aired publicly, let alone to the nation.

However, to help you live through some juicy workplace gossip, PushFar, an online mentoring platform took to the internet to ask the users of Reddit to shock them with their workplace scandals, and they did not disappoint!

Here are the top 10 workplace confessions:

1. “I used to steal petrol from work, there was no system in place to log when it was used, how much of it was used or who used it. I first did it after they asked me to use my own car for some work purposes and just carried on doing it for about 2 years, saving thousands of pounds.”
2. “I literally walked out of work like 3 months ago with a whole computer chair.”
3. “Interviewing a candidate and they were running a bit late, so went out and asked the next person we were interviewing if he’d like a coffee, said he wanted a beer. It was 9:30am.”
4. “This guy was picking up plates from customers with half eaten leftovers and eating from them with his bare hands. When management was informed he was fired immediately.”
5. “I was in the middle of sacking someone when she took off her shoes, crossed her legs on the sofa and began picking her toenails.”
6. “I got asked as a newbie to join as a witness a call where they were having to tell a guy his contract was being terminated as he hadn’t passed probation. This was due to a long line of issues with his work, meeting deadlines and performing basic tasks. When I logged on the guy in question was my ex-boss from my old company. We’d both been made redundant and joined the new place. No one knew we knew each other and we didn’t acknowledge it on the meeting. It felt like a huge breach of HR.”
7. “I found out about a year after I started my current job that the guy I replaced had a) lost his driving license but not told anyone so still had a company car, driving it illegally and b) had been ordering extra equipment and phones to sell on privately. I had an incredibly low bar to make myself look good.”
8. “Our general manager has approved, without checking, everyone’s annual leave over Christmas. So there is nobody left working the Christmas week (we only close Christmas day). I’m really enjoying seeing him scramble!”
9. “One of the girls on the sales team accidentally forwarded a graphic email from her boyfriend to the entire company. Her mum works here too. Another email we had was from a guy who cheated on his wife with someone at work. He proceeded to email a confession to the company naming the woman he slept with. My money is on the wife getting into his email and sending it out in revenge.”
10. “We had a serial pant flusher. Never figured out who it was but for about two months we’d get an email from HR weekly begging people not to flush underpants down the toilet.”
