Logistics provider announces 'huge' sustainability investment at Bradford site

Rhenus UK has announced the installation of over 100 solar panels on the roof of its Bradford warehouse, as part of its ongoing commitment to increasing sustainability in its operations.

This adaptation of one of the road business’ key Rhenus locations reinforces the company’s goal to deliver a sustainable infrastructure.

The bespoke installation of 103 panels will generate up to 49,047 kWh of renewable energy per year, saving 23 tonnes of carbon emissions annually and expecting to cover the demand of over 90 percent of the warehouse’s annual electricity demand. This reduction will be a significant step towards decarbonising the Bradford warehouse.

As a participant of the UN Global Compact, Rhenus contributes to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

All Rhenus UK depots achieve the international standard for environmental management ISO 14001:2015, further promoting their commitment to delivering an effective and sustainable environmental policy.

Michael Morris, Compliance Officer at Rhenus UK, commented: “This installation represents a significant investment that strengthens the commitment from Rhenus Group on their journey to sustainability.

“In addition to these solar panels, we have also recently installed electric vehicle (EV) chargers at all our depots to promote EV usage and we are changing our forklift truck (FLT) fleet to electric drive systems, among other planned investments, to achieve a more sustainable future for everyone.”
