Children North East Gives Back To Its Local Community In Partnership With Newcastle United Executive Club

Children North East, the region’s longest established, independent children’s charity is continuing its affiliation with the Newcastle United Executive Club.

In a partnership arranged by sports rights specialist Eleven Sports Media, the charity’s branding is displayed throughout the fan-engagement platforms in the concourses and hospitality areas of the iconic St James’ Park stadium.

Based in the heart of Newcastle, Children North East has been helping children and young people grow up to be healthy and happy since 1891. Its founders, cashier to Newcastle Corporation, John H. Watson, and manager of a shipowners, John T. Lunn were concerned about the health of poor children living across the North East region.

The support the charity receives from the community, including businesses, makes its work possible and provides a lifeline for vulnerable young people and their families. It offers life-changing-services and support for babies, children and young people, providing safe spaces to learn, laugh, make friends and pursue their potential.

Services which the Newcastle charity provides include mental health support, youth work, support for families and domestic abuse help. Last year, the charity gave over one million minutes of support to 4,544 people in the local region through services such as counselling, support groups and family activities. It also consulted over 37,000 people, working with other organisations to determine how to improve the lives of children living in poverty.

Children North East offers DARE (Domestic Abuse Recovery and Education), a unique provision which is delivered every school holiday except Christmas. This is a crucial programme in assisting young people who have experienced domestic abuse in the past.

The work of Children North East is made possible by the huge support it receives across the region and beyond. Its generous range of fundraising efforts include various challenges, volunteering, and businesses collaboration.

The organisation is always keen to hear from businesses throughout the North East, who are interested to get involved and support it in the continued work it does. Its ever-evolving calendar of fundraising activities include events such as the Great North Run and a Firewalk in Spring next year.
