Bellway announces details of new homes planned on former Wentworth Estate land in Virginia Water
Bellway has revealed details of its plans for a new housing development on land neighbouring the world-renowned Wentworth golf course in Virginia Water.
The housebuilder has applied for detailed planning permission to construct 67 homes on a four-acre site north of Trumps Green Road previously owned by the Wentworth Estate.
The development is to be called Regent’s Gate and will feature a mix of apartments and houses built in a style influenced by local architecture, alongside green open space including a play trail set within a wildflower meadow.
All homes will have access to an electric vehicle charging point while environmentally friendly air source heat pumps will be used to heat the apartments.
Rob Sapsford, Managing Director of Bellway South London, said: “Our team has been highly focused on creating a plan for Regent’s Gate that is precisely tailored to this area of Virginia Water. “This is reflected not only by the design of the homes, which include architectural features such as ornate window designs and stone detailing inspired by existing buildings in the area, but also in the provision of green space which respects the site’s edge-of-woodland setting.
“Sustainability is an integral part of our plans, from the energy efficient technology within the homes to a range of measures aimed at enhancing biodiversity. With cycle paths and footpaths linking Regent’s Gate to existing roads, the overall design also aims to make it easy for new residents and the wider community to enjoy the outdoors and feel connected to nature.”
Regent’s Gate will comprise 43 homes for private sale and 24 affordable homes for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership. The properties will include a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and three, four, and five-bedroom houses.
In addition to the 24 affordable homes, six one-bedroom apartments will be made available under the First Homes scheme. This allows properties to be sold at a discount of between 30 and 50 per cent to first-time buyers who meet the qualifying criteria.
Electric vehicle charging points will be installed in every house, while apartments will have access to shared charging points on the development.
As part of the planning agreement for the scheme, Bellway will pay around £1.7m towards local services and infrastructure through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
