The NaughtOne team at their new office Central House Harrogate.

Modern furniture brand opens doors to new North Yorkshire HQ following renovation

Contract furniture brand NaughtOne has marked an ‘exciting start to 2024’ following its move into its new headquarters following 18 months of renovation.

Experts in furnishing offices of the future for their clients around the world, the tables were turned on this project as NaughtOne designed a space for their own team, bringing to life its vision of “how the modern workplace can be”. Previously based in Knaresborough, the team now occupies a first floor space at Harrogate’s Central House.

NaughtOne specialises in the design and manufacture of ancillary furniture for modern spaces, which have grown in popularity in offices in recent years with the move towards hybrid working and collaborative, breakout areas alongside traditional desk set-ups.

The brand has been on the pulse of the changing needs of the workplace since 2005 and its furniture features in offices around the world, including LinkedIn, Microsoft and Etsy.

Managing Director, Nadean McNaught commented: “Workplaces have changed so much over the last decade and today people want so much more than a functional desk and chair. We’ve been well-placed to help clients create spaces which meet these evolving needs.

“In 2022 we started thinking about how to expand and improve our own working environment to better support our growing team. The brief was ambitious: we wanted a warm, welcoming space that felt more like a home than an office, somewhere the team would want to come to connect and hang out. And it had to be sustainably built and accessible for everyone.

“Central House in Harrogate ticked all the boxes. As soon as I saw the space, with its huge windows, high ceilings and treetop-lined views, I knew it would be our new home.”

Over the last 18 months, Nadean has worked with NaughtOne’s Creative Director, Stephen Floyd, and Design Manager for Branded Environments, Sam Davis, to bring the space to life from scratch. They have been careful to follow the NaughtOne motto: ‘absolute simplicity, infinite possibility’.

Sam explained: “NaughtOne is a global business with a hybrid-working model. We knew that team members were coming into the office for different reasons: some to collaborate and catch up, others to get their head down and focus. The space was designed to support both, filling the gap of what they felt they were missing at home”.

The office is furnished almost entirely with NaughtOne designs with some pieces handpicked from other MillerKnoll brands. NaughtOne have made sure to use the products in the same way customers would: in the right spaces and in different formulations for various group sizes. The space will double up as a northern showroom for customers to visit.
