Sheffield housebuilder Honey submits plans to deliver £22m development in Huddersfield

Sheffield-headquartered housebuilder Honey has submitted plans and exchanged contracts on a six-acre site in Fenay Bridge, Huddersfield, to deliver a £22.15m, 67 new home development.

The proposed site, which will be called Violet, is located on Rowley Lane and is adjacent to Penistone Road on the outskirts of Huddersfield town centre. Subject to planning, Violet will comprise a mix of two-, three-, four- and five bedroom homes and will include terraces, semi-detached and detached properties.

Honey says its house types have all been specifically designed to combine “style, substance and sustainability” for the benefit of buyers. Prices for homes at the development will be released if planning is granted.

The site was granted outline planning permission last December and would form part of the Kirklees Local Plan which requires a total of 31,140 new homes to be built between 2013 to 2031.

If given the go ahead by Kirklees Council, work at Violet is anticipated to start this summer with the first residents expected to move into their new homes in spring 2025.

As well as providing new homes for the area, if planning is granted, Honey will also make financial contributions to several initiatives that will benefit the local community and its infrastructure.

Founded in October 2022, Honey is backed by private equity firm Alchemy Partners and its Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV which has £937m of fully committed capital.

Since the start this year, Honey has secured six sites across Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire that, subject to planning, will deliver 867 new build homes and revenues of £262m.
