‘Unique’ Newcastle city centre restaurant and bar set to ‘soar’ onto the scene this spring
Social Bird, a new contemporary restaurant, is set to ‘soar’ into Newcastle's hospitality scene with a feathered twist this spring.
Set to bring a dynamic flair to Newcastle's city centre, Social Bird is spreading its wings on Newcastle’s Fenkle Street, just off Westgate Road, with plans to open mid-spring. Catering to those looking for a cosy coffee, quick lunch, sit-down dinner or Friday night cocktail, the new restaurant aims to offer “something for everyone”.
Guests can prepare to indulge in a chicken-inspired menu, specialising in Chicken Schnitzels and burgers sourced locally from suppliers Soanes Poultry, known for their commitment to sustainability and high animal welfare standards.
Designed by Ica, an architecture and interior design studio based in Glasgow, Social Bird's interiors have drawn inspiration from the city's rich heritage, with elements such as the bar’s arched detailing inspired by the iconic Tyne Bridge.
Social Bird's interiors are infused with bold, warm, earthy tones, green hues, and timber accents. The venue also features a stone top bar, complemented by integrated lighting with suspended feature pendants.
Emma Thompson, General Manager, shared her excitement, commenting: "We are thrilled to introduce Social Bird to Newcastle, bringing a place where every detail has been crafted to make you feel at home, and every bite a culinary delight.
“Social Bird is set to become a vibrant part of our local community, offering a unique and inviting space. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to experience the great hospitality and unique charm of Social Bird.”
Social Bird is also set to collaborate with other local businesses, such as Tynemouth Coffee, Newcastle Gin, Pure Knead and Hadrian's Border Brewery, to curate a genuine and local menu. Social Bird will be serving up a ‘breakfast, lunch, evening and everything-in-between’ menu seven days a week.
Beyond the great cocktails and chicken, the new restaurant is also committed to creating an all-encompassing experience, including live music and open mic nights, with the aim to become a hub for the local community to come together and enjoy a sustainable, ethical food and relaxed environment.
