The Lamb of Tartary

Anticipated public house and grill officially opens in Manchester’s Northern Quarter

On Friday 1 March, Manchester’s newest public house & grill, The Lamb of Tartary, officially opened in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The venue is located in the former Cottonopolis site on Newton Street and comes from the team behind the award-winning Edinburgh Castle pub in Ancoats; with a new ‘All Day Dining’ menu curated by award winning executive chef Shaun Moffat.

The Grade II listed building has received a fresh fit-out, designed by Directors Nick and Hayley Muir, with the space transformed with a new light and airy feel.

Designed with ornate panelling, exposed flooring, seated booths, and filled with leafy green plants, locals will be able to “sit and enjoy drinks with friends, visit for brunch or dive into a delicious plate of food from the new menu of seasonal British dishes”.

The ‘All Day Dining’ menu features a plethora of small plates including Atlantic prawn cocktail & melba toast; Burrata, crown prince pumpkin & green sauce; and an array of meat and fish fresh from the grill, including Otterburn Farm Pork available in Bacon Collar & Loin Chop cuts and beautifully delicate Cornish Lobster with Hollandaise.

The brunch menu will also include dishes such as; Bacon chop, fried egg & chips; Wild mushrooms, lake’s fried egg on toast; and English muffin, potato rosti, fried egg, cheese & tomato jam.

Drinks on offer pair perfectly with the new food menu, including The Lamb’s versions of classics such as the Gimlet, Old Fashioned and the Sidecar, as well as featuring a number of well-known iconic cocktails with a twist, including an Espresso Martini with chocolate and orange and a Paloma made with Grapefruit and Rosemary Soda.

The new bar will have 24 different beers on tap, including local favourites Manchester Union Lager and Cask Beer from Buxton Brewery and Mobberley Brewhouse. There will also be a range of hot drinks, soft drinks & a selection of lower-alcohol drinks on offer, including a Garibaldi, Bloody Mary and The Lamb’s Spritz, perfect for brunch.
