ITV News presenter shares experience of imposter syndrome at first Women in Leadership event
Members of the Black Country business community listened to a powerful presentation from journalist and TV presenter Pip Tomson at the first Black Country Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership network event of 2024.
Well- known ITV News presenter Pip Tomson shared her experience of imposter syndrome, and how she has overcome this throughout her career sparking positive discussion amongst female leaders who shared similar experiences.
Held at Tecman, St Marks Church in Wolverhampton on July 4th, the Me, Myself and I event discussed breaking the stigma associated with imposter syndrome by changing the narrative from ‘suffering from imposter syndrome’ to ‘having an imposter experience’.
Women in Leadership Chair and BlackRook Academy Managing Director Lucy Rook commented: “Our first Women in Leadership event was a huge success. A big thank you to all who attended and to our speaker Pip Tomson who ignited fantastic, positive conversations around the room on the topic of imposter syndrome.
“It was empowering to listen to and share experiences with other women around the room, the Women in Leadership network is a positive driver for change - remember, be you, be authentic and you have earnt your place at the table!”
Established by the Chamber in 2019, the Women in Leadership network aims to support and celebrate women in senior leadership roles and to help inspire the next generation.
The University of Wolverhampton has been announced as partners of the 2024 Women in Leadership network and will support Chair Lucy Rook to guide and raise the profile of women within the Black Country.
In addition, Women in Leadership Chair and BlackRook Academy Managing Director Lucy Rook and City of Wolverhampton College Deputy Principal Louise Fall officially announced the launch of the Guiding Stars initiative.
City of Wolverhampton College Deputy Principal Louise Fall said: “Guiding Stars is a mentoring programme specifically designed to provide young women with positive female role models.
“The programme will offer mentees the guidance and support to allow them to thrive. We are thrilled that 30 women have already pledged their time to support the next generation of female leaders.”
