SGI and STP partner to drive innovation at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park
Scarborough Group International (SGI) has partnered with Sheffield Technology Parks (STP) to enhance innovation opportunities at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. This collaboration aims to attract innovators in sports, health, and wellbeing, creating a supportive environment for breakthroughs in these sectors.
Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, a unique London 2012 Olympic Legacy for health and wellbeing, is a hub for world-class sports, research, and educational facilities. It houses renowned centres such as the English Institute of Sport Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University's Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre. As the development partner for the Park, SGI is focused on expanding commercial space, including up to 1,000,000 sq ft of new developments.
SGI is one of the UK’s leading privately-owned property regeneration specialists. With over six decades of experience, SGI has evolved from a UK-based real estate company into a global organisation known for creating inspiring spaces that support the wellbeing of communities. By partnering with STP, they are bringing their expertise to the Park to improve the experience for businesses and entrepreneurs.
STP, a key player in Sheffield's tech landscape, will focus on building a vibrant business community at Landing Pad, SGI’s incubation centre. This collaboration aims to drive innovation in sports, health, and wellbeing by offering support and resources to start-ups and scale-ups.
Ian Sanderson, SGI’s estates and development consultant, said: "This collaboration marks a pivotal moment for Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park as we move forward with our ambitious plans to expand the commercial space offerings available and enrich the experience of those choosing to work here.
“Partnering with Sheffield Technology Parks allows us to tap into South Yorkshire’s thriving tech ecosystem, elevating support for our business community and helping to facilitate the ground-breaking research and innovation in sports, health and wellbeing taking place at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.”
Tom Wolfenden, CEO of STP, emphasised their goal to boost the region’s position as a hub for innovation and technological excellence.
He said: “Working together, we want to not only boost the growth prospects and success for the businesses at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, but also strengthen the region’s position as a hub for innovation and technological excellence by attracting national and international organisations to the Park.
“We’ve been able to make real progress over the past years in creating an ecosystem where digital technology companies can thrive.
“Now I’m excited to focus on the sports, health and wellbeing industries - an already exciting scene in Sheffield - and create mutual benefit for all parties as we build an even stronger reputation in this area of innovation.”
