OnPath Energy works with AECOM on solar park

A renewables developer has joined forces with a consultancy to push forward a green scheme.

OnPath Energy has appointed AECOM to help deliver Barnsdale Solar Energy Park.

Based between Kippax and Allerton Bywater, to the east of Leeds, bosses say the endeavour will generate electricity for up to 12,000 family homes.

Building work on the 50-hectare park – which will link to the Ledston Primary electricity sub-station –  is expected to start early next year and be completed by 2026.

AECOM is working with OnPath Energy’s project team on planning, transport, engineering and environmental management, as well as power system design.

Martin Kellerman, construction director at Houghton-le-Spring-headquartered OnPath Energy, said: “The project will bring a wide range of direct environmental, energy security, economic and community benefits to the local area.

“AECOM’s all-round expertise and experience of delivering large infrastructure projects provides us with a one-stop shop for all the different types of work that will go into creating the Barnsdale Solar Energy Park.”

OnPath Energy, formerly Banks Renewables, owns and operates four onshore wind farms in Yorkshire, including the Hook Moor Wind Farm, based near Leeds.
