Anwyl Homes secures Unilever land deal

A housebuilder has completed a deal for consumer goods company land.

Anwyl Homes has bought nearly nine acres from Unilever in Bebington, Wirral.

Bosses say it will build 127 homes on an area of the company’s Port Sunlight research and development base.

They add the one to four-bedroom property estate – named Lottie Gardens, in honour of Bebington-born Wimbledon tennis champion and Olympic silver medal-winning archer Lottie Dod – will include 25 affordable homes.

Work is underway to clear the site.

Phil Dolan, Anwyl Homes’ chief operating officer, said: “We’re excited to bring forward this brownfield site for redevelopment to provide homes in a sustainable location.”

He added the development will deliver around £677,000 of community improvements through planning-related contributions, which will include more than £330,000 to upgrade public and play spaces.

The majority of the £330,000 will go towards renovating Mayer Park play area, with funds also directed by Wirral Council towards improving Dibbins Hey play area.

Almost £150,000 will be used to improve playing pitches and facilities at Higher Bebington Playing Fields, with around £35,000 to be spent on upgrades at Bebington Oval Leisure Centre.
