Jomast reveals Jesmond office block blueprint

Plans have been unveiled to renovate a former city office block into a residential hub.

Jomast Developments wants to create 58 flats on the ex-Scottish Life House site, in Jesmond.

Bosses say the work – which will form the final part of the Jesmond Three Sixty apartment and commercial unit complex – will help breathe “new life to this great part of the city”.

Based off the A167, they add the potential nine-storey scheme would create a “vibrant, high-quality residential community”, with commercial and leisure space complemented by an outdoor courtyard and a ‘mobility hub’ for car parking and other sustainable travel.

If the plans are approved, work could begin in 2026.

Adam Hearld, development director at Jomast Developments, said: “Jesmond Three Sixty is a fantastic mixed use development and a great place to live for young, aspirational professionals.”

Planning and development consultancy Lichfields will discuss the scheme – designed by GT3 Architects – with local stakeholders over the coming weeks.  

Robert Dibden, planning director at Lichfields’ Newcastle office, said: “This latest phase, led by some eye-catching landscaping, considers the whole site, tying everything together and providing the final piece of the development jigsaw.

“There are currently huge pressures on the housing sector and, together with the new changes proposed to the planning system, more properties are desperately needed to provide a mix of good quality homes in an area where people want to live.”
