ROCKWOOL boosts UK façade expertise with acquisition
Denmark’s ROCKWOOL Group, a world leader in stone wool solutions covering building insulation, industrial and technical insulation, has strengthened its position in the UK market with the acquisition of Wetherby Building Systems Ltd, which provides external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS).
This strategic move expands ROCKWOOL’s façade expertise in the UK, as Wetherby Building Systems, based in Greater Manchester and employing 78 people, becomes part of ROCKWOOL’s Wall Systems division under the new name, Wetherby Wall Systems.
Bob Deane, Wetherby Building Systems managing director said: “There is a long-standing relationship between Wetherby and ROCKWOOL, and the match is strong on all significant drivers, from business model and technology to company culture and values.
“I am convinced that inside the ROCKWOOL organisation, Wetherby will meet its full potential for wall system solutions.”
The acquisition aligns with ROCKWOOL’s commitment to advancing energy-efficient building solutions, supporting the UK’s net-zero targets by 2050.
Jes Munk Hansen, ROCKWOOL Group CEO, added: “This acquisition underlines ROCKWOOL’s commitment to further expanding our presence in the UK market and to continuing to transform the construction sector towards sustainable and non-combustible façade solutions.
“The share of stone wool insulation in the Wetherby business has been growing steadily, and we will be completing this transition to a fully stone wool-based portfolio, as we have done in other markets in the past.”
