Energy training base secures RWE backing

A training venture focused on delivering the energy workers of tomorrow has struck an industry alliance.

Port of Blyth-based Energy Central Campus is working with operator RWE’s Sofia Offshore Wind Farm.

Officials say RWE Sofia will support the campus’ mission to develop the clean energy staff of the future by “directly influencing activities and outputs of the campus as the voice of industry shaping training provision”.

RWE Sofia’s construction base sits close to the Energy Central Learning Hub at Port of Blyth’s Bates Clean Energy Terminal.

Martin Lawlor, Energy Central Campus chair, said: “RWE Sofia’s expertise in renewable energy and ongoing investment in providing placement and apprenticeship opportunities makes it the ideal partner to strengthen our delivery.”

Graham Wright, RWE senior supply chain manager, added: “This initiative represents a bold step forward in driving innovation, fostering collaboration and shaping the future of clean energy.”

Energy Central Campus is a skills partnership between Port of Blyth, Northumberland County Council and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.
