New podcast explores the future of work

A new podcast series takes a deep dive into the intricacies of workplace culture, exploring how businesses are tackling the challenges of recruitment, retention and engagement in today’s evolving professional landscape.

Both Sides of the Desk, created by Newcastle Helix and hosted by community engagment manager Charlie Charlton, features candid conversations between employees and their bosses from four forward-thinking companies: Mesma, Leighton, Womble Bond Dickinson and Scott Logic.

The series offers real-world stories of collaboration and adaptation, showcasing innovative strategies such as flexible work models and fostering social impact through education and community initiatives.

Topics range from balancing caregiving with careers and addressing social mobility in law to retaining tech talent and embedding charitable efforts into corporate culture. Hear honest - sometimes awkward - stories about work culture from a newly empowered workforce, their bosses and the challenges that have brought them together.
