DPP Planning strengthens Newcastle team

Independent planning consultancy DPP Planning has appointed Alec Coaker as an assistant planner in its Newcastle office.

Alec, an MPlan student at Newcastle University, joins part-time while completing his studies and working towards MRTPI accreditation.

With experience gained during his placement year at Ethical Planning, Alec contributed to significant projects, including the Northumberland Line.

He is one of seven graduate appointments made by DPP this year, reflecting the firm’s commitment to nurturing future talent.

Alec said: “It’s great to be in this role at DPP while still studying at university.

“The real-life, industry experience I am gaining is amazing, and the team that I am working with are really helping me develop professionally and personally and I’m looking forward to a bright future at DPP.”

Gareth Hooper, chief executive officer of DPP Planning, which also has offices in Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester and London, added: “The experience Alec gained working on major infrastructure projects during his placement year puts him in a great position to help us with similar projects here at DPP.  

“Nurturing young and up and coming talent is what we do here at DPP and so being able to take on seven graduates this year, the most we have taken on in the last ten years, will allow us to continue this tradition and help support us in creating a culture of working excellence.”
