Recite Me eyes growth after £4.6 million support

A digital accessibility software firm says it has taken a “significant step forward” after securing £4.6 million support.

Recite Me has been backed by capital investor BGF.

The Gateshead-based operator says the cash will fuel further expansion across Europe, the US and Australia by bolstering the continued roll out of its technology.

Used by millions across the globe, Recite Me’s software helps those with disabilities, visual impairments and learning difficulties, as well as those who speak English as a second language,  access online portals.

BGF’s support builds on £4.2 million backing last year.

Ross Linnett, Recite Me’s chief executive, said: “This marks a significant step forward in our growth ambitions and is another positive milestone on our investment journey with BGF.

“In the last 12 months, our pioneering technology has supported more than seven million users across Europe, the US and Australia.

“Our ambition is to extend that reach – not only to accelerate our own growth, but to help millions more people to access online content around the world.”

John Healey, BGF investor, added: “Since 2012, Ross and the team have built up a strong reputation as leaders in website accessibility software in the UK.

“However, the market potential is vast, with 98 per cent of the world’s websites having accessibility issues. 

“The follow-on funding will enable the team to strengthen their position in this exciting and attractive market.”

Recite Me was advised on the deal by Weightmans, with BGF supported by Ward Hadaway.
