B&M boosts growth plans with warehouse deal

A budget retailer has strengthened expansion plans with a warehouse deal.

B&M has moved into a 674,265sq ft distribution base in Ellesmere Port.

Known as Link 674, officials say the Cheshire hub will allow the Liverpool-headquartered supermarket to push its 760-plus store estate to in excess of 1200.

B&M has signed a ten-year lease on the building in a tie-up described as “one of the largest logistics deals in the UK this year”, with operations set to start in 2025.

The retailer was backed by Leeds and Bradford-based law firm Gordons, which has provided support to B&M for more than 20 years.

Commercial property partner Joanne Fearnley, who led an advisory team during the tenancy negotiations, said: “We are very pleased to have played our part in securing the deal, and look forward to seeing Link 674 become operational.”

B&M’s lease agreement is with real estate investor Cain International, with Firethorn Trust chosen to manage the site.

In addition to Gordons, B&M was represented by Savills on the deal.

B8 Real Estate, CBRE and Moriarty & Co acted for Cain International and Firethorn Trust, with Simmons & Simmons providing legal advice.

Gordons employs 170 people and counts AO, Cloud Nine, Decathlon, Evri, Morrisons, Ocado Retail and Wren Kitchens as retail clients.
