'Big boost' as Willis secures Jet2.com work
An aircraft maintenance firm is flying high after securing a budget carrier partnership.
Willis Aviation Services has agreed a “long-term” deal to service Boeing 737s for Jet2.com.
The work will be carried out at Willis’ Teesside International Airport base, whose bosses have hailed the alliance as “another huge vote of confidence” in the site.
Under the terms of the agreement, Willis will deliver in-depth ‘C-check’ inspections of planes at the airport, which is based on the outskirts of Darlington.
The deal builds on an existing partnership between Jet2 and Willis’ fellow Teesside International Airport tenant Airbourne Colours, which is painting the carrier’s aircraft from a 27,000sq ft hub north of the runway.
It also comes after airport chiefs earlier this week confirmed vehicle repair firm ABL 1 Touch as the first tenant on Teesside International Airport Business Park.
Phil Forster, the airport’s managing director, said: “The agreement between Willis and Jet2 is another big boost, and shows major firms are seeing just how well-placed we are to offer a wide range of services.
“With Airbourne Colours and Willis established here, we’re perfectly placed in the heart of the UK as a base for maintenance and aircraft painting.”
Austin C Willis, Willis Lease Finance Corporation’s chief executive, said: “We’re excited to partner with Jet2.com, a respected airline known for its customer focus and operational excellence.”
Chris Hubbard, Jet2’s director of engineering and maintenance, added: “We are confident Willis' proven capability and commitment to quality will ensure our fleet continues to meet the highest standards.”
