New alliance aims to boost employment hopes

A new partnership has launched to boost employment opportunities across South Yorkshire.

Rural broadband provider Quickline is investing in a new QFutures Community Fund with South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation.

Officials say it will award grants to projects and organisations addressing unemployment facing people 30 and over in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

Quickline is also backing the Community Foundation’s Moving On Up programme, which aims to bolster the employability, skills and prospects of people aged 30 and under.

Michelle Dickinson, South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation’s head of philanthropy and programmes, said: “Our vision to inspire and prepare people for the fast-changing world of work mirrors Quickline’s own ambitions to address unemployment in the region.

“This partnership will build on the huge success of our Moving On Up programme by providing even more opportunities to connect people with businesses by helping remove barriers to employment.”
