Glencar eyes staff growth after strong results

A construction firm says it will build staff numbers after navigating a “rapidly-evolving” marketplace to chalk up higher profits.

Glencar more than doubled annual pre-tax earnings to £4.8 million against revenues of £406.8 million in the year to September 30.

Bosses say its progress was fuelled by “a commitment to doing the right kind of work (amid) changing customer expectations and market needs”, which has laid foundations to create new jobs.

And they say the St Albans-based operator is geared to notch ten per cent revenue growth in each of its next two financial years, thanks to a “robust” £350 million order book for 2025.

The business works across numerous areas, including industrial buildings, life sciences projects, data centres and ports, recently securing a contract to redevelop former LDV van factory land into warehouses on Birmingham’s Catalyst Industrial Park.

Hailing its progress, chief executive Eddie McGillycuddy said: “We are seen as a trusted delivery partner and achieve extremely high levels of customer retention and repeat business.

“Recognising our success is intrinsically linked to our people, we are committed to investing in our workforce.

“This will involve increasing the number of team members and expanding our comprehensive training company-wide.

“We look forward to the year ahead with a sense of optimism and confidence with a strong order book and an exceptional team.”
