New documentary explores SME funding
A new documentary is shining a light on the challenges and opportunities facing SMEs as they navigate the world of finance and investment.
The Future of Finance, the latest in a series from Newcastle Helix, showcases the experiences of entrepreneurs and investors shaping the business landscape.
The film features bioscience firms NunaBio and CellRev and their chief executive Joe Hedley and Chris Green, respectively, alongside insights from NatWest Accelerator, Innovation SuperNetwork, Northstar Ventures and NextGen Planners.
Exploring the pathways to funding - whether through bootstrapping, grants or venture capital - the documentary delves into the challenges of securing investment and the strategies businesses use to scale successfully.
Part of a wider series highlighting innovation at Newcastle Helix, The Future of Finance follows The Future of Collaboration in documenting the growth of the region’s dynamic business ecosystem.
John Seager, estates director at Newcastle Helix, said: “The key to creating regional economic growth is about ensuring the success of as many businesses as possible – nurturing the talent and fostering true, home grown, innovation is the essence of what we do at Helix.
“The opportunity to learn among peers and collaborate is one of the things that makes Helix special, and I think our latest film in The Future of series will be really interesting for burgeoning entrepreneurs.”
