Mother Mercy shakes things up with new venue
A North East cocktail brand has brought its award-winning drinks and signature hospitality to one of Newcastle’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
Mother Mercy, recently named among the UK’s Top 50 Cocktail Bars 2025, has opened a venue on Heaton’s Chillingham Road.
Designed in collaboration with AND+ Studios, bosses say the Heaton base will reflect the area’s creative energy while maintaining the brand’s understated elegance.
The expansion builds on Mother Mercy’s success since launching in Newcastle’s Cloth Market in 2019, with additional venues in Fenwick, Grey Street and Sunderland’s Sheepfolds Stables.
Neil Donachie, co-founder, said: “This is a really exciting new chapter for Mother Mercy.
“We’ve always loved creating spaces where people can connect over incredible cocktails, and Heaton feels like the perfect place to serve our cocktails, while staying true to the essence of Mother Mercy.
“We’re looking forward to becoming part of the Heaton community and sharing our creativity with the neighbourhood.”
