Filtronic secures new £16.8 million SpaceX deal
A technology firm has secured a £16.8 million follow-up deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX endeavour.
Filtronic will supply parts to the rocket and spacecraft operator over its next two financial years.
The agreement builds on a previous contract that saw Sedgefield-headquartered Filtronic tasked with sending power amplifiers and associated apparatus to SpaceX’s Starlink constellation, which uses low Earth orbit satellites to deliver high-speed internet connections.
It also comes just days after the company, which has a further base in Leeds, revealed it was “considering further collaboration” with SpaceX after the work helped revenue skyrocket.
Bosses say its fresh deal will see revenue and profit “exceed current market expectations” across both its 2025 and 2026 financial years.
Nat Edington, chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have secured this substantial order, which underscores our reputation for delivering high-performance radio frequency solutions to our market leading customer.
“This contract, alongside our growing momentum in strategic markets, provides us with increased confidence in our ability to exceed our growth targets for the 2025 and 2026 financial years.”
Alongside its County Durham headquarters, based on Sedgefield's NETPark, Filtronic operates a further site in Manchester and last year opened an office at Cambridge Science Park.
