CCI Photonics boosted by £100,000 support

A life sciences firm has received £100,000 backing.

CCI Photonics has been supported by LYVA Labs to develop a urinary tract infection test.

Bosses say the apparatus will carry out a 15-minute test before identifying the correct antibiotics for treatment.

They add current methods for testing bacteria causing urinary tract infections can take up to 72 hours.

Dr Carlos Meza, CCI Photonics chief executive, said: “LYVA Labs' investment will help speed up the process of bringing our device to market, strengthen our quality management system as we prepare for regulatory approval, and develop our route-to-market strategy.”

CCI Photonics recently moved to Sci-Tech Daresbury, and has partnered with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine to further validate its technology.

It is taking part in the LYVA Labs’ incubator programme.
