DJ workshops set to inspire Blaydon youth

A new community partnership is set to amplify creative opportunities for young people in Blaydon.

Northern Pulse CIC has teamed up with Blaydon Youth and Community Centre to launch its first arts programme, a six-week DJ workshop series designed to teach mixing, beatmatching and performance skills. 

Officials say the initiative, supported by The Community Foundation, AkzoNobel International Paint and the Winter Family, will make a “lasting positive impact” and will help foster creativity and confidence “through the power of music and the arts”.

They add that the collaboration is expected to benefit hundreds of young people each week, providing a space “where artistic expression can flourish”.

Mike Dixon, co-founder of Northern Pulse, said: “We’re incredibly excited to work alongside Blaydon Youth and Community Centre.

“This partnership will enable us to deliver even more impactful programmes, helping young people build confidence, develop new skills and connect with their community through the power of music and the arts.”
