TUI checks in to new Middlesbrough base

A major travel company is expanding its presence in Middlesbrough with a new office.

TUI Group has taken space at Six Centre Square.

Officials say the base will host 80 staff from TUI's First Choice, Holiday Hypermarket and Holidays for Heroes brands, working across web development, contact centre and marketing teams.

They add the move recognises “Middlesbrough's long-term potential”.

Kevin Nelson, managing director of First Choice, said: “We’re proud to have had members of our First Choice business based in the North East for 22 years, and it was important to us we maintained our Northern roots when looking for a new office space.

“Six Centre Square is a great fit for the team.

“This new space will allow us to work collaboratively and flexibly.”

The 4500sq ft space adds to the site’s business hub, which welcomed insurance giant AXA UK with 500 staff last year.

Developed by Ashall Projects, Six Centre Square received £9.7 million from the Tees Valley Combined Authority and £2 million from Middlesbrough Council’s Towns Fund, supporting the town’s regeneration.

Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen added: “This is another boost to our efforts in Middlesbrough – and it’s great to see the First Choice teams committing to this modern new office in the heart of the town.”
