Approval for 370-home London development

A 370-home London scheme has been approved.

Planners have backed developer Peabody’s Wornington Green project.

Bosses say the work – the final phase of a 1000-home blueprint to transform the Kensington estate – will deliver more than 200 social rent properties.

Approved by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s planning committee, the scheme also promises a new community centre and adventure playground, a neighbourhood square and courtyard, and an outdoor area for markets and community events.

James McMylor, Peabody regional managing director for development, said: “This project will ultimately provide around 1000 much-needed new homes, more than half of which are affordable.

“We’re pleased to have the council’s backing for this final phase, and hope to make quick progress on delivering it.”
