Charity Rise hits new heights with impact report

A North East charity focused on health and wellbeing has celebrated a landmark year, distributing more than £1 million for regional projects.

Rise’s 2024 impact report reveals the charity’s continued success in tackling health and social inequalities.

Through the Department for Education’s Opening School Facilities Funding, Rise has invested £1.6 million in local schools, helping 68 schools provide 4500-plus active sessions to more than 75,000 young people, including those with special educational needs and disabilities. 

Additionally, Rise’s ‘Every Move Matters’ service, in collaboration with 11 GP practices in the North East, has supported 359 patients, with 81 per cent showing improved health outcomes and 96 per cent of patients on the programmes improving their self-reported state of health scores.

Clare Morley, chief executive of Rise, which was recently awarded Green Accreditation by Investors in the Environment (iiE), said: “Physical activity is a key catalyst in transforming our communities and tackling rising health issues. 

“Here at Rise, we remain ultimately committed to addressing inactivity and the wider inequalities we face as a region.

“The last 12 months have seen significant growth for the charity, not only within our projects and participants, but within our network of partnering organisations who continue to join forces with us to break down barriers and strive towards an active North East.”
