Gastropub duo expand portfolio with hotel buy
A North East hospitality duo has expanded into the luxury hotel market after buying an award-winning boutique venue in the Yorkshire Dales.
David Whitehead and Joanne Dwyer, owners of gastropubs The Jolly Fisherman, in Craster, Northumberland, and The Woodmans Arms, in Whickham, Gateshead, have added Yorebridge House, in Wensleydale, to their portfolio.
They say they want to “take the Grade II-listed building to new heights”.
The five-star hotel, which will continue to be managed by couple Daniel and Sophie Shotton, features 12 individually designed suites, some with private hot tubs, as well as The Orangery, a triple AA rosette and Michelin Guide restaurant.
Set on the banks of the River Ure and nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the hotel also offers activities including fishing, water sports, walking and private dining experiences.
David, director of DWC Enterprises and DWC Yorkshire, said: “We’re super excited to take on Yorebridge House and begin writing its next chapter.
“The hotel is already exceptional, but we plan to further develop its offering with the addition of an on-site serenity spa and further accommodation to take the Grade II-listed building to new heights.
“This is a unique venue and we are privileged to be able to offer it to our loyal and supportive customer base from The Jolly and The Woodmans.”
