**Nexus** is the Passenger Transport Executive for Tyne and Wear. We own the Metro system and Shields Ferry, and help to organise and manage bus and Metro service in Tyne and Wear, for example providing comprehensive travel information and publicity, maintaining bus stop infrastructure, and subsidising socially-necessary public transport services. We also pay for concessionary travel for older people as part of the national scheme, and locally we subsidise under-16 public tranport fares.
