A familiar face in the world of crafts, Sara Davies is founder of Crafter’s Companion after setting up the company from her bedroom whilst studying at university in 2005. The crafts supplier is now an international business with offices in the UK and USA. At just 28, Sara is recognised as one of the best young entrepreneurs of the North East region. She regularly features for Crafter’s Companion on TV via Ideal World and Create & Craft as well as equivalent shopping channels in North America and Europe. Earlier this year, she was appointed as head of the board of directors at the Craft Hobby Association UK, which looks after the interests of the British craft industry. It also complements her existing role on the board of the affiliate chapter in the USA. Away from crafting, Sara is an angel investor with investment firm Gabriel, which looks to support and invest in growing businesses at a time when traditional funding options are limited. She also helps mentor other entrepreneurs and growing businesses as part of a role with the Entrepreneurs Forum. Most recently, Sara was appointed to the UKTI’s Catalyst group, which looks to promote UK companies in export markets. The role involves Sara speaking at even more international business events to inspire both craft and non-craft companies to grow into new markets.
