Special iApps C.I.C. is a multi award-winning app developer based in the North East of England, founded in 2011 by Beverley and Colin Dean as a non-profit social enterprise. We couldn't find the apps we needed to teach our younger son William, who has Down syndrome. We found that most apps had too much going on in the background, weren't configurable or easily personalised, and didn't cater for William's limited finger skills. Over the years our apps have been enhanced to support children with a wide range of abilities and disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, hearing and visual impairment. They are also used by typically developing pre-school children as well as adults with learning difficulties.
