The Lakes Distillery is a £5m investment and will be the biggest distillery in England when it opens later this year. It’s the lifelong dream of experienced whisky entrepreneur Paul Currie, supported by a management team of some of the best brains in the drinks and business sectors. The business launched its British blended whisky “The ONE“ in September 2013 at the Taste Cumbria Food Festival and by the end of 2014, it will be exported to over 20 countries worldwide. June 2014 saw the stills delivered on site to start production of ”The Lakes Malt”, “The Lakes Gin” and “The Lakes Vodka”, the latter two produced in September for UK sales and export. The Distillery itself will be a major visitor attraction for Cumbria, The Lake District, forecasted to attract 50,000 visitors to the distillery per annum. Opening late 2014, The Lakes Distillery will boast an on-site Visitor Centre complete with interactive Information Area and Tasting Room.
