Lean-Lapland: The [very] northern approach to continuous improvement
A number of companies from the North East rallied round the jolly man of the season to support him to bring about improvements before his big night. Findings from the leading inspectorate GAPRA (Gifts and Presents Regulatory Authority) left Nicolas in deep water. On the first of December a workshop was held, facilitated by the local training company LDR Squared, to ensure that the breaches of quality, rising costs, and late deliveries weren’t to continue.
There was the strong possibility that if GAPRA were not satisfied with the countermeasures and distance travelled by the individuals that day the office of Santa Claus could have been shut down. This, as you would know, would have left boys and girls all around the world with no presents on Christmas Day!
AVID Technologies, Aesica Pharmaceuticals Ltd, SCM Pharma, and LDR Squared came together to work through the issues pressing the world renowned outfit. Using tools such as COPIS, and the six sigma approach, as well as a number of hands on tasks, the team were able to drill down to the root cause of the issues mentioned in the report and suggest ways in which the North Pole outfit could improve and maintain their improvements.
“I’m so Glad that I have had the support of these fine boys and girls as without their help I don’t know how I could have ever got all my problems sorted, and deliveries made on the eve of the 25th“ said Saint Nicolas, CEO of Lapland Inc.
It was a great success, the inspector from GAPRA was satisfied with the work done by the team and Santa is OK to carry on his operations and the ELVES are approved to maintain their magical manufacturing practices.
“When I got the phone call from Mrs Clause I was shocked! After our initial conversation and providing her with Matrix Accredited Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) we agreed that we would hold this event and rally people round to support“. Tim Ong, Training Manager at LDR Squared continued,
“The event turned out to be a great success! The individuals that came took away invaluable knowledge about the process of continuous improvement and the team at Lapland Inc are able to imbed the improvements and ensure that Christmas will be a happy time for the girls and boys of the world.“.
