NE Procurement recognised as Housing Sector of the Year
Newcastle-based procurement organisation, NE Procurement, was awarded the Housing Sector of the Year accolade at this year’s Tees Valley BME awards.
The annual awards ceremony honoured the hard work by individuals, businesses and organisations from across the region in support of black and minority ethnic communities.
The organisation was awarded the accolade for their continued dedication to work with marginalised groups of people, in particular their work helping those not in employment or training into work placements with the local supply chain and registered housing providers.
Rod Brasington, Chief Executive of NE Procurement, said: “It was a great honour to even be nominated for this award. It’s always great to find out all of your hard work is making a difference in the area.”
The success on the night was a timely reminder of the wealth of achievement and talent of individuals, organisations and businesses across the Tees Valley area.
Now in its seventh year, the awards were sponsored by well-known regional organisations, Middlesbrough College and Tees Valley Unlimited.
Yasmin Khan, Awards Partnerships Director, said: “NE Procurement, through the Future Sparks programme, has continually sought to invest in communities; this award is a recognition of their contribution and commitment to providing support to diverse groups and projects.”
Since it was founded in 2008, NE Procurement has grown into an organisation that has procured over £215 million worth of products and services with over £1.3 million invested in community projects; ranging from identifying and removing barriers to employment, placing local trainees into paid work opportunities, investing in community mentors and supporting the development of a heritage resource centre.
